Many citrus fruits have considered
ornamental because of tha persistence of the leaves, the blossom, the intense
perfume and the colours of the fruits. At the Department of Pomology of Naples,
over the last few years a new research project has been carried out, which
foresaw an aesthetic-qualitative comparation in pot (having as basis the
lemon species) of some cultivar conveniently selected, cultivadet for the
this purpose. In order to do this, some presumed local clones of the lemon,
Ovale di Sorrento(PN/014.2), Variegato di Amalfi (PN/.1) and
the Sfusato di Amalfi (PN/A14), were compared with the Monachello
cultivar. The research, begun in 1996, highlighted the superior ornamental
characteristics (fo the leaf, longevity and the hardness of the flower) of
the Ovale di Sorrento (PN/O14.2), and of the Sfusato di Amalfi
while the Variegated of Amalfi (PN.1),. The Monachello eventually
showed a good ramification, fruit-bearing and juici fruit. The leaf index
was good for each of the theses, exept the variegated variety which registred
a lower number of leaves. Finally, for all the theses, the vitamin C contenent
has to be considered good for the theses which it was compared.
Molti
agrumi (Citrus aurantium, Poncirus trifoliata, Citrus medica, Citrus maxima,
opportunamente selezionate all’uopo coltivate.
